Tomos merges compelling textures in sultry synth-pop offering "Surface Tension"
London-via Wales' Tomos finds an elegant balance of soothing soul and bright electronica in new track "Surface Tension".
"Surface Tension" opens sounding slightly submerged, with the popping beat and soulful synths building slowly into a sultry melody.
Tomos delivers his soothing vocals with a lustful tone, driving the track's basis of a blossoming relationship with effortless charm, tranquility and excitement.
Combined with the ethereal echoes, "Surface Tension" experiments with different textures of sounds, later uniting under a funky bassline that moves the track into the moonlight.
The sultry feel to the track is what Tomos was aiming to produce, as he explains, "As a lyric writing technique I often randomly write down lists of words influenced by what I’ve seen, heard and been interested in that day. A couple of years ago, on a YouTube binge, I had been researching the adhesive properties of water but also found myself watching that trending video by Tatia Piliva, 'First Kiss’ (the one with load of ‘strangers’ kissing upon meeting for the first time)."
Tomos adds, "That evening I made this cheeky little loop with my lyric book open in front of me, recorded a voice note of me jamming vocals to send to a mate who was asking what I was up to. Having forgotten about it, a year later I found the recording while going through old messages, took that scrappy little snippet and developed it into "Surface Tension.""
