
Thomston documents how he planned his break-up for “April” with soaring alt-pop anthem
Even when you’ve meticulously planned the end of your relationship indecisiveness can take over and make you question everything.
With “April”, the first single from his forthcoming second album, the newly independent singer/songwriter and producer is taking a more a DIY approach and quite literally doing everything himself.
Born in London and raised in New Zealand, Thomston aka Thomas Stoneman is starting his new chapter documenting the end of another one. Sometimes no matter how much you give you get nothing back. Romantic, platonic or professional, if your love isn’t reciprocated there comes a point where you realise your relationship has an expiry date.
For Stoneman that expiry date was the end of April. “Sometimes being rational in a relationship feels impossible when it’s intrinsically based on feeling,” he explains. ““April” is about planning a break-up and being realistic with myself about my inability to follow through.”
The new track builds on the dreamy, alternative pop soundscapes that he has been sharing since his impressive debut EP Argonaut. Solidifying his sound with his debut album Topograph, last year he released double-EP En Route: London / Los Angeles which served as a passport to this new path of his journey.
