To put it simply, The Modern Strangers' newest effort "Nothing On You" is damn good fun
The Modern Strangers build their sound on a hotbed of catchy hooks and melodies that will earworm their way in to your subconscious, and nowhere is this more clear than new single "Nothing On You".
The Modern Strangers are fronted by brothers Max and Archie Davenport and on their new track "Nothing On You, they employ a kind of playful abandonment, opting for jaunty segments of bright, in-your-face melodies that will force a smile onto your face and put a bounce in your step.
It's a track that feels as though it will be just as fitting for the dancefloor as it will for a summer of festivals. Full of good-time vibes and building on a happy-go-lucky attitude, the band are bringing nothing but positivity our way. Despite their apparent knack for not taking themselves too seriously, the song also exemplifies their ability to put together shamelessly fun pop songs.
Speaking on the track's origins, Max explains "Late last year we were in the studio recording a song. We managed to get it finished quickly leaving us with a few hours before we could call it a night and head for the inevitable end of day beverages. Archie, myself and Gordon (our producer) decided to use the time to see if we could come up with something. Archie was playing around with the chord pattern and we built it up from there. We came back to the tune earlier this year and decided it would fit perfectly on the EP. 'Nothing On You' is about someone who thinks of themselves quite highly and would happily dismiss real love for someone who couldn't offer them anything emotionally, but could book a first date at the top of The Shard."
