Listen: The Drink - "Microsleep" [Premiere]

It feels like there's a huge weight of expectation on The Drink. They are the first ever unsigned band to be stocked in Rough Trade - no mean feat for a pretty unknown band with just a couple of EPs to their name.
But it's clear why they've gained such early admiration. From the second "Microsleep" unravels its tight clasp of angular guitars and singer Dearbhla's Celtic flutter, the song soon darts off in unpredictable directions with beautiful centrepiece chamber-pop harmonies. It sounds pretty unique - save for a little like Warpaint with a folkier wash - and is certainly some of the most refreshing music we've heard from a new act these last few months. Uncompromising, dark and rather weird and wonderful, "Microsleep" is pure celebration of letting music take it's natural and sometimes twisted course. The Drink release their debut album, Company, on 1 December via Melodic. Pre-order here. Tracklisting: 1. Microsleep
