Tanners takes us back to school with the video for “Fumes”
Tennessee-born and New York-based, Tanners flashes back in time with the prom themed visuals for her new track “Fumes”.
Reminiscent of the otherworldly alt pop of fellow artist Sky Ferreira, “Fumes” incorporates slow chords and a wonderful falsetto vocal to create a smooth, 80s jam of psychedelic pop perfection. Drawing inspiration from iconic ballads of the era - specifically Cyndi Lauper - Tanners’ latest track fuses together glittering electro pop and funk guitars to create a unique sound.
Pairing “Fumes” with quirky visuals, the video features Tanners at a retro high school prom and dressing as a multitude of different characters. “My goal was to pay homage to these sparkly, nostalgic, almost melancholy productions” Tanners explains. "It was hands down the most fun I’ve ever had shooting. I call “Fumes” my prom song, so we came up with six different high school tropes and had these over the top, campy characters lip sync the track.”
