Talkboy return with indie-rock powerhouse track “Over & Under”
“Over & Under” is a tumultuous uproar of driving percussion complimented by beautifully intertwined male and female vocal that is as instantly recognisable as it is unique.
Leeds based six-piece Talkboy emerged in 2018 amongst a series of live shows on the festival circuit including Live at Leeds followed with support slots alongside Our Girl and Bully and the release of their debut single “Mother”.
Follow up single “Over & Under” is an anthemic rock track that evokes a drawing narrative that is still poetic and illustrative. Seemingly an exclamation of the contours of relationships and their expectations, “I’ve been feeling so down that I don’t really care how this turns out”, the track highlights an exasperation for relationships that are often overrated, underrated and rarely somewhere in-between.
Commenting on "Over & Under”, guitarist Tim Malkin said: “It’s no secret that we all like a good party in Talkboy but personally, I increasingly get the feeling that I should be having way more fun than I am or that I should be way closer to the people around me than I am. I think that a lot of people go through the motions at social gatherings, to try and keep up appearances or whatever, whereas if they just let go of that kind of stuff they might have more meaningful relationships”.
