Swine Tax take a stab at the music industry on the urgent and satirical “Tory Water”
Newcastle’s noisiest trio are rallying against bad taste on their latest wry-chedelic social commentary of Northern life.
"I’ve never had a conscience!” Yelps Swine Tax frontman, Vince Lisle, on the band’s first single from upcoming EP This Is Not a Band. Who, or what he is referring to specifically is unclear, but what’s certain is that "Tory Water" definitely has a conscience.
The track is a stripped-back assault, taking down the fickle nature of the modern music industry, one sharp, tongue-twisting verse and relentlessly abrasive guitar riff at a time. Taking inspiration from bands like Pavement, Sonic Youth and The Fall, the Geordies offer a sound that defies the safe and bland musical landscape that has taken hold in recent years.
The nation is in desperate need of some politically and socially aware, guitar-driven music right now and Swine Tax are leading the way.
