Strong Asian Mothers slowly descend into mayhem on delirious electro-pop single "Sober"
London-based threesome Strong Asian Mothers unveil their maddeningly great new electro-pop single "Sober".
"Sober" is an intoxicating new ode with slithery basslines and clicking hip-hop percussion. It begins surprisingly subdued, with brassy riffs and low-slung vocals making the track a subtler affair than we've heard from Strong Asian Mothers so far - but the (relative) calm doesn't last forever, with the trio descending into warped, effects-laden chaos before "Sober"'s over. It's a delirious descent into mayhem.
The track follows their eclectic, genre-mashing Lynx Africa EP from this past spring.
"'Just Another' circles around the awareness of being one voice amongst many billions of other voices," say the band. "Being another human bean in a long line of past, present and future human beans can be a comforting and connecting thought - but it can also be an overwhelming and claustrophobic one. Living in a big city hammers this feeling home. The internet, being the vast web of frequently tangled and clashing voices that it is, reminds us of it more maybe than ever before.”
