Stream: Valley Of The Dolls compilation [Best Fit Exclusive]
“Label samplers are boring”, reads the opening to Something In Construction‘s press release marketing just that. But this is no ordinary label sampler, this is more of a mixtape of fine taste. A complied catalogue showcasing some of the indie’s own acts and those they wish they had netted. It’s like a statement of intent: this is what we like, this is what we’re about, if you like it then there’s more likewise to come.
Entitled ‘Valley Of The Dolls’, some heavyweights of the SIC roster (Air France, Loney Dear, Memory Tapes) are backed by the likes of Icona Pop, NZCA/Lines and TEETH. Most are brand-new tracks especially for the release, with the odd oldie thrown in for good measure.
The folks at Something In Construction want it to be the “soundtrack to summer BBQs”, while we simply ask for a little bit of sun first. But with this fine companion nestled in our ears, we can at least pretend it’s scorching.
The release is exclusively sold physically in stores at Urban Outfitters, while you can also buy it online at iTunes. But before you get your credit cards at the ready, be sure to stream the mix below – exclusive online to Best Fit.
