
Sports Team announce Scala show and share new track “Kutcher” with accompanying visuals
Directed by Kris Rimmer (Matt Maltese, Big Moon) “Kutcher” sees West London’s finest swapping grimy city haunts for wholesome country surroundings.
The Harlesden based 6-piece have gone from strength to strength these last months, morphing from inconspicuous indie band to razor-sharp guitar pop outfit with an anarchic live show to match.
Stories of provincial boredom and the millennial professional provide a humorous insight into Sports Team, a band who (unlike their contemporaries over the river) are very content in their middle class idle and wear it as a badge of honour.
“Kutcher”, a homage to television heartthrobs, sits more in the Beastie Boys with guitars camp inhabited by Only Real and Rat Boy than Pavement and Squeeze but is nonetheless a stellar tune filled with their trademark irony and witty observations. The video nods to previous EP Winter Nets with everyone donning whites on the steps of a cricket clubhouse. A very welcome sight indeed.
