Norwegians Spielbergs go epic on emo/post-rock anthem "Ghost Boy"
With connections to Carnival Kids, Team Me and The Wombats, Spielbergs (an unsearchable name, let me tell you) make unsurprisingly rousing music.
Only formed earlier this year and just two songs into their career, this Norwegian lot could be on to something special. On "Ghost Boy" Mads Baklien, Stian Brennskag and Christian Løvhaug go widescreen with an eight-minute track which covers almost all the indie bases.
Starting with shivering guitar before powering into a motorik groove peppered with xylophone, then exploding into an outro which has shades of both The Appleseed Cast (in the vocals) and Explosions in the Sky (the guitar fireworks), "Ghost Boy" is an anthem as much as it is a statement of intent from Spielbergs.
