Songhoy Blues have had wonderful two years grabbing the attention of labels and supporting the likes of Damon Albarn at the Royal Albert Hall. Today they unveil new single "IRGANDA", premiering on Best Fit.
"IRGANDA" has a restless energy propelled by its infectious samba backbone. There is little respite elsewhere, though, with choral singing and guitars solos dancing atop the song's busy structure. It's the kind of song to soundtrack a late night holiday beach party or one that can play happily as you truck down a dusty highway.
Now signed to Transgressive and with their first headline UK tour kicking off this week (including a sold out show at Hackney's Oslo), it looks like the impressive Gao musicians are in for one hell of a 2015.
