Dutch artist Someone drops psych-pop stomper “I Can’t Remember How to Talk to You”
Multi-disciplinary Dutch artist Someone, aka Tessa Rose Jackson, delves into post-breakup turmoil in her new track “I Can’t Remember How to Talk to You”.
Someone shows a touch of personal vulnerability in her latest single “I Can’t Remember How to Talk to You”. A plush, retro bassline and funky, shimmering synth belies Jackson’s inner conflict upon running into a past lover – spending her days breezily ploughing through life with free vigour before the emotions come rushing back with the sudden, fuzzy rush of the chorus that practically courses with psychedelic vibration.
“It’s the story of somebody meeting their ex at a party in a wobbly, punch-fuelled moment. In the verses, she’s all cool, kind of a lilting ‘Yeah, I’m doing great, I rock at life’, but in the pre-chorus little cracks start to appear,” shares Jackson of the binary pendulum of emotions post-breakup.
“Suddenly, this hysterical chorus comes crashing in, and she’s ended up on top of the table, mascara streaming down her cheeks… as it turns out: actually no, she’s not fine. And yes, that escalated quickly.”
