Smoke Season’s “Wolves” is sexy, modern indie-pop at its best
“Wolves”, the newest offering from buzzworthy alternative duo Smoke Season, is a sexy, genre-defying indie-pop track bound to get you dancing.
The pair might have a country kind of look going on, but “Wolves” is anything but traditional. A springy, distorted bassline intermingles with deliberate percussion in the vein of Kesha’s “Woman”, whilst the duo’s vocals wind seductively around each other. Recurring lyrical motifs of animal attraction are delivered with enough commitment to be saved from cliché as they prowl over the track’s thumping heartbeat.
October saw Smoke Season take to the stage for well-received shows at London’s Sebright Arms and Shoreditch Electric Light Station, where their blend of electro-indie made waves with fans. “Wolves” follows these shows and previous single “Good Days”, which takes a lighter, more meandering approach than its successor.
