On "Marianna", Heida Karine Johannesdottir Mobeck (tuba and effects) and Anja Lauvdal (synths) go about rearranging a synth pop track into an eclectic and unpredictable experience.
Crossing the borders of R&B, hip hop, jazz and electro in under four minutes, the track is underpinned by one hell of a morphing groove made up of squelching bass sounds and snapping percussion. The duo's background in jazz music ensures the rhythms are never obvious, and with Mobeck and Lauvdal's voices combining in heavenly Norwegian harmonies it makes "Marianna" a glorious experience.
"Marianna" is out now. Skrap's most recent album, Antropocen, features contributions from Jenny Hval and Susanna and is available via Fanfare.
