Age is never a clear indication of talent, as 18-year-old Shivum Sharma proves. He casts a spell with his hazy debut single ‘Flicker,’ a captivating piano ballad recorded in his bedroom.
Inspired by the likes of Shuggie Otis and Brooklyn’s Oneohtrix Point Never, the young London resident prefers being a loner when creating new music at his keyboard. That aspect of his surroundings seems to come across in ‘Flicker’. Sharma’s voice has a melancholic air reminiscent of Active Child’s.
The haunting love song is perfect for the nocturnal listener, which makes perfect sense since Sharma finds inspiration whilst roaming London in the evening. It’s a safe bet that the young singer-songwriter will be one we should keep an eye out for.
