London outfit Sheen appeared on our radar a few months back with free download single “Lovelust”, a delicately swaying indie-pop tune with undertones of shoegaze and a definite hit radio kick.
New release “Skylarks”, out 11 November via their own imprint 078 Recordings, follows in a similarly dreamy vein with jangling guitar flourishes and rolling toms carrying Aneta Wrzos’s satiny yawps throughout. Even by their high standard of brooding melancholy and taut melody, this is pretty special.
“Skylarks” and accompanying track, ’90s alt-rock homage “Hey”, were recorded and mixed by Horrors collaborator Samantha Bennet, and mastered by Grammy nominated producer Mandy Parnell (Animal Collective, PJ Harvey, Bjork).
Sheen will play the Old Blue Last on 8 November to celebrate the release.
