Manchester-based Austrian producer salute pays tribute to the UK garage classics on “Feel The Same”

Exploring the different stages of grief with his complex, emotive trilogy Condition, Austrian producer salute (Felix Nyajo) concludes his catharsis with the jubilant single “Feel The Same”, emerging from the chrysalis of grief.

Citing Dizzee Rascal and Wiley as important influences in salute's work, “Feel The Same” exists within a state of flux, soaked with choppy UKG beats and scattered pulses of electronica. They warp and throb as the agony begins to fade - its impenetrable veneer cracking to reveal those first glimmers of hope and healing.

“I'd never made a garage track before writing ‘Feel the Same’, I play a lot of garage in my DJ sets, so it only felt right to try and make something in that vein,” explains Nyajo.

“I took a lot of inspiration from the incredible new wave of UKG producers across the country making some of the most ground-breaking electronic music I've heard in a while - big love to them.”

Despite the joviality, a sense of longing and nostalgia seep between the fractures. “Back to when I used to have you” feels bittersweet against the backdrop of his grief - delicately crafting a multifaceted response to bereavement.

“Feel The Same” is out now, with the final instalment of his trilogy Condition III to follow on 16 August. Find salute on Facebook.
