Rufus Wainwright has revealed the first single to be taken from his forthcoming seventh studio album Out Of The Game.
The title track will be released on 16 April via Polydor (available to download from 13 March), ahead of the full length record which drops on 23 April. It is available to stream right now though so go and lose yourself in its gently plodding harmony, grand chorus lines, tinkering piano keys and Wainwright’s irresistible voice.
Explaining that the song was inspired by the YouTube obsessed kids of today Wainwright said: “For the first two verses I’m complaining, but in the third verse, it’s tinged with envy as well. I’d like to be that age again and that silly, that excited about idiotic things. So I’m not being insensitive, just tired.”Wainwright will be showcasing tracks from his “most pop” album yet in London on 30 April at the Lyceum Theatre.
