RAYE covers Years & Years' "Shine" ahead of Shepherds Bush Empire support slot tomorrow (12 June)
R&B-pop singer RAYE has provided a sleek, chic cover of Years & Years' current belter "Shine" before she opens for them tomorrow (12 June) at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.
Glitchier, smoother and more sedate than the original by Olly Alexander and co., RAYE channels the sweltering R&B offered by Tinashe or Ciara. It's still a gorgeous piece of pop, but now it's less dancefloor anthem, more red-lit pillow talk.
Speaking about her rendition, RAYE said:
"So The Years & Years guys asked if I wanted to support them at Shepherds Bush Empire which was so cool and as a little thank you almost, I worked on a cover/rework of their new single Shine. I had so much fun making it, and putting my own little flip on it. I hope you enjoy <3 <3”
Years & Years and RAYE will perform in London tomorrow with opening act Nimmo. They will also play the same venue the following night; both shows are sold out.
