The second instalment of Birmingham quintet Troumaca‘s Elements mixtape series is a delightfully eclectic selection, featuring tracks from a couple of the most overlooked records of the year – particularly ‘Promises’, from Kode9 and the Spaceape’s excellent Black Sun.
The series supports the release of Troumaca’s The Gems EP, out next month. ‘Fire’, the lead single from that record, is a reasonably enjoyable, ragga-inflected tune – but much more interesting is the bass-heavy ‘Distance’, a glimpse of which you’ll catch at the end of this mix.
The Gems is out 12 December.
