POWERS reintroduce us to their technicolour pop on the gleeful single “Dance”
LA based duo POWERS have been floating around in the pop ether with a handful of promising releases to their name for a while now.
Following what has been literally years of teasing they’re finally ready to share the fruits of their labour thus far, their debut album, Alpha.
“Dance” is their first track of the year and sees the pair trading vocals throughout with a riff reminiscent of Blur’s infamous “Song 2”. A real throwback to the nineties, the pair continue to work their genre-bending style into every inch of their work - whether that be POWERS, or the collaborations members Mike Del Rio and Christa Ru have been working on independently.
The track has a simple message; beginning the track with a voicemail recording (presumably from Del Rio’s mother) saying “I think it’s very important in life, no matter who you are, to enjoy life and to dance.” The music video echoes this sentiment featuring the duo performing and dancing, alongside various other characters.
