Listen: Phantom Runners - "Laserbeam" [Premiere]
Phantom Runners premiere shuffle-pop gem "Laserbeam" today on Best Fit.
Written under the production guidance of Fun Lovin’ Criminals' Huey Morgan, "Laserbeam" is a slack-jawed three-minute ditty packed with sprightly melodies and intelligent layers of guitar that ooze effortless cool.
Frontman Adam Al-Hilali said: “We wanted a track that kind of felt like you are in another realm. Like a lucid facade of colours with an imaginary girl. The inspiration started from a picture I had in my head. To hear colours and see sound I guess. The lyrics just came naturally.
"We tried not to write this track, but to let the track write itself. This way our songs tend to get written is in their rawest form in 10 minutes. We believe there is a kind of voodoo that happens when people get together to jam and just play without thinking or trying. It's kind of going back to the old school, then adding embellishments later. This has become our songwriting process."
Phantom Runners have a collaboration with Ghostly International signing Dauwd in the pipeline and an upcoming tour to be announced later this year.
