London four-piece Passport To Stockholm build on a swell of momentum on "Let Me Know" [Premiere]
Riding the momentum of previous EP singles "Chemistry" and "All At Once", London-based four-piece Passport to Stockholm are sharing "Let Me Know", premiering today.
Though they boast only four members, Passport to Stockholm have managed to create a sound larger than the sum of their parts on "Let Me Know". As Henri Grimes' percussion rollicks with controlled bombast around the mix, Mariona De Lamo's cello provides a steady melodic guide. With the swell of those strings at their back, the vocals are allowed to linger for a half-second longer on the first syllable of the "darling" that opens the chorus. It's an adventurous move, one that pays off when everything swan dives into that second syllable to capture the beauty and tension of moments fraught with paranoia and jealousy.
The band says: "It's a song about giving everything you can to be an honest partner and finding out you are being lied to in return. We recorded this as a sister piece to 'Chemistry'...think of it as when the anger comes in, the aggression of the percussion drives it."
