The alter-ego of Pam Shaffer, Nyxe's "space witch" outlook is a coming-together of Laurel Canyon new age and 21st century electronica. Her new single, made with producer Dru Decaro, "Get Down" combines both to great effect.
Opening with elegant piano and Shaffer's evocative voice, the track moves from traditional singer songwriter territorty into glitch-laden electronica which jitters around a warping bass and pitch-bent vocals.
As the two sides of Nyxe come together on the second verse, the song moves from torch-song melodrama into something altogether more fascinating and slippery.
"Get Down" is available now on digital platforms.
