Nicky William longs to be desired on breezy alt-folk track "Pleasant to the Eye"
Sweden's Nicky William fuses his breezy alt-folk melodies with self-deprecating lyrics on I Want To Feel It All EP track "Pleasant to the Eye".
"Pleasant to the Eye" is the penultimate track on the new Nicky William EP I Want To Feel It All, and sees the Swedish alt-folk musician focus on physical appearances in a light-hearted manner.
The new song sees William sing over a bed of soothing wind instruments and a fluttering bassline that oozes with romanticism.
Despite the fairytale-like instrumentation, the Swedish singer/songwriter's lyrics were inspired by "not feeling desirable" (he tells When The Horn Blows), and are projected almost like a stream of consciousness as he sings, "I have proof of demons / They're hiding in short-haired girls that are Norwegian / And all with impeccable fashion sense / To them I have no defense / Oh to be desired / Only reserved for those / Whom are pleasant to the eye / I'm not pleasant to the eye."
Expanding on the track, William says, "Although I do not consider myself a superficial person who places a lot of emphasis on appearance, we all have our moments of weakness, and even though I do not believe in the ideology the song highlights, I always find it more important to convey feeling."
The new track features on his new I Want To Feel It All EP alongside previous outings "I Fell In Love With Her" and the upbeat "Pathetic Fuck".
