May Lyn is crafting sensuous and unnerving R&B on new single "Touch Base"
Ahead of her new EP, electronic artist May Lyn has unveiled a beguiling and twisting new track.
"Touch Base" is the second track to be lifted from the Brisbane-based artist's forthcoming Vessels EP and it's completely mesmerising.
Occupying the same space as the likes of fka Twigs, Cuushe and Noah inasmuch as she makes R&B with a heightened ambience, May Lyn never allows the listener to feel completely settled on this writhing number.
Combining trap beats with an undulating bass groove and a spooky synth line, "Touch Base" supplies plenty of chills in the instrumentation but once May Lyn adds in her vocals - which shift from a passionate delivery to a knowingly sensual whisper - the track gains even more muscle. In singing about taking strength from within, May Lyn has made something of an empowerment banger.
