French Escape Room producer Matveï releases soulful club track “Distance”
The French producer is at the forefront of the emerging Escape Room genre, which quite literally “escapes” the confines of conventional categorisation. “Distance” is a heady cocktail of soul and EDM, capturing the essence of urban nightlife.
Matveï’s skill caught the eye of electronic tastemakers, Kitsuné, sharing an enviable roster with Two Door Cinema Club and Digitalism. With the Parisian label behind him, at 20-years old he has been elevated to an internationally renowned platform, with backing from the likes of EDM kingpin Martin Garrix and Thutmose.
“Distance”, calling on the rich, daquiri-sweet vocals of Alyss, is a mosaic of infectious, tropical house beats, staccato vocals before – surprisingly – breaking down into romantic, classical guitar in the third act.
Speaking about the track, Matveï explains, ‘With “Distance” my intention was to create a melodic/energetic peak time club track. It’s obviously house, but I didn’t want it to sound like a classic house record, therefore I blended elements from different genres in it. I also enjoy vocal chops so it’s only normal you hear them as the main element in the drop or as backing vocals.’
Undoubtedly, “Distance is set to be your summer anthem.
