Matilda Eyre and PALMR run towards to future with the atmospheric electronica of "Water"
Inspired by loss, on their deeply personal new track, Matilda Eyre and PALMR explore letting go even if that's the hardest thing to do.
The collaboration between London-based German artist Mathilda Eyre and Devon-based producer PALMR began at the end of 2019 and a number of sessions began to grow fruitful with expressive melancholy electro-pop. Completing "Water" long-distance may have been a challenge, but the pair managed to get the job done and the end result is just as impressive.
Eyre says "[this song] is about stepping into your truth, your strength and finally going for everything that is important to you." She explains "Water" embodies "leaving all the heaviness behind and being free to run towards your goals... wrapped in a delicate story about losing someone close to you in the beginning of the journey.”
The pair's talents and tastes fit perfectly together. Both gave a penchant for the dark, atmospheric and more alternative side of pop and Eyre's skill for crafting delicate melodies to rise above her eerie creations shines through here. "Water" is triumphant and really does embody that moment where breathing feels easier again.
