Newcomer Marie Noreger releases sultry, confident new track "Eager to Feel"
Rooted in a juxtaposing mood of existentialism, "Eager to Feel" is a suave, jazz-flecked new number from Norwegian artist Marie Noreger.
“As a young adult it can be so difficult to understand yourself, where you come from, what you’re built of and just what this whole life means," says Marie Noreger. "But as a human I don’t think we ever really stop questioning our own existence and position in life, and I think that’s important to put light on that to prevent us from feeling alone.” This fairly weighty concept is what inspired Noreger to write "Eager to Feel", the third track to arrive ahead of her debut EP. And despite tackling such a formidable topic, Noreger pulls it off by balancing that against a laid-back vibe within a soft jazz soundscape.
Overlying the alluring brass and crisp percussion are Noreger’s sultry vocals, conjuring up a sound reminiscent of hazy jazz bars of times gone by. In a similar vein to modern soul artist Marie Dahlstrom, "Eager to Feel" is a wonderful blend of old and new, and represents another confident step in the right direction for the 23 year old Norwegian.
"'Eager to Feel' is about the pain and the pleasure about being a human," further explains Noreger. "I captured a specific headspace in the process of making this song. Questions like 'Am I a slave to my thoughts' entered my mind."
