Lucifour M's debut single “Dog” is a groove-laden bop saying 'you do you'
Tinged with soulful vocal hooks and a head-bopping rhythm section, Italian quartet Lucifour M are bursting onto the scene with an important statement in their first release "Dog".
According to Lucifour M, conforming to societal expectations to please others is overrated, and being unapologetically original is the way forward – and this single reflects that perfectly. With bars like “Why why why / Tell me why to be white / Why why why / Tell me why to be black / Why why why / Tell me why to be nice”, the track encompasses the importance of identity and integrity, and to not change yourself depending on how others want or expect you to be.
"'Dog' is a sort of flux of consciousness,” explains the band. “The song is about trying to live as you want to live in a time of domestication. ‘Please forget about you’ is a memo to you and ourselves: try to free your mind from all the people and things that ask you to be 'nice' - just because they want you to behave in a certain way."
“Dog” is the first release from their debut EP Uno to come in September. It will be a mastered amalgamation of various improvisational jam sessions from their home studio, so we can expect some striking and boundary-pushing pop music to come from the foursome over the coming months.
