Low Totem indulges in raw reflection on the unhindered "Tiny Shiny"
Low Totem's "Tiny Shiny" is a plunge into the dark depths of harsh realities that are embodied by jagged instrumentals and raw emotion.
"Tiny Shiny" is an unpolished, yet evocative offering that presents Low Totem as an artist trying to find true emotion through songwriting.
He describes that "Tiny Shiny" "grapples with references to generation Y and a life mixed up in medicating vs. self-medicating. There is a turmoil that many twenty-somethings can relate to, a looming anxiety where reality and expectation seem to increasingly contrast."
The message is an honest observation of today's society, and Low Totem finds himself channelling that anger, paranoia and hierarchy nuisance to the twangy guitar melody and unpredictable stabbing piano that carries the track's heavy heart.
Weaving between the unexpected bursts of instrumentals, Low Totem's vocals morph at each peak and trough, journeying through the warped track like a rollercoaster about to derail.
Gloriously sparse and unhindered, "Tiny Shiny" is a palpable offering that teases with the angel and the devil in a near warped-folk track that stumbles through dark alleys like a drunkard.
