Listen: Lorine Chia- Eve's Perspective
Lorine Chia presents ‘Eve’s Perspective’: a sensuous, subtle track with a gorgeously simple melody.
Crisp, stripped-back production gives the twenty-year-old Ohio-based artist’s distinctive voice the focus it deserves, her smooth and seemingly effortless flow has an almost perfect clarity here. With an authority and confidence to the delivery, her sound is undeniably far beyond her years. Chia’s voice has an enchanting, jazzy, soul-infused sound; reminiscent perhaps of Bonobo and Radio Citizen collaborator, Bajka.
Previous work includes a take on famous children’s nursery rhyme ‘House On The Hill’, and ‘Livin’ In Vain’, a collaboration with man-of-the-moment Chance the Rapper. ‘Eve’s Perspective’ – an exploration into the power of curiosity, from the mind of a fundamental biblical figure – manages to surpass even those in terms of hauntingly captivating subject matter.
