Irish-Sierra Leonian musician Loah premieres soulful This Heart EP
With a warm, rich vocal and musical influences drawn from across the globe, Loah’s EP This Heart is the first from the vastly talented singer.
Having previously collaborated with Villagers and won a BMI songwriting award for co-writing “Someone New” with Hozier, it’s fair to say Loah has already accomplished a great deal in her career. This Heart is her first EP, comprising six songs, each of which reveals a new facet to her songwriting and performance prowess. The stormy crash of “The Bailey” contrasts with “Unveiled”’s folky guitars and “Cortège”’s warm harmonies. It’s a recipe Loah describes as “ArtSoul”; a hybrid of stylings from both the Irish and Sierra Leonian aspects of her life.
“Overall the songs deal with themes of intuition,” Loah explains, of the EP. “How an individual relates to their ancestral and spiritual inheritance, and our relationships with both those who are close to us and the wider world.”
