I really hope Willis Earl Beal‘s elaborate backstory is true. The Chicago artist, who was supposedly discovered after leaving his CDs around Albuquerque has, in the space of a very few short months, become one of the most talked-about songwriters in the world.
His debut album Acousmatic Sorcery is out on Monday, but the record is currently streaming over at the Chicago Reader – and on first listen it sounds unsettling, unpleasant, and pretty glorious.
