We confess to knowing little about new London outfit Vaults, other than their debut tune ‘Cry No More’ is cathartic CHVRCHES-nodding indie-electro of the highest quality.
The vocals aren’t quite as pliable, or downright elfin as Lauren Mayberry’s but there’s a definitive whiff of the Scot’s childlike innocence colouring Vaults’ dagger sharp caw. Plinking piano riffs, heartbroken string sections and insistent glocks comprise the bulk of the subtly moving intro, with a pulsing bass undercurrent driving ‘Cry No More’ from the middle eight onwards. A project brimming with promise.
