New York-based TATI ANA releases new single “MRI” and, true enough to its name, its magnetic scatter-synths and belt-snapping snare claps resonate throughout the skull and into the brain.
In “MRI”, Kochkareva forgoes the digestible vocal styling of her synth-pop contemporaries in favour of a richer, more complex timbre. The combination of her full-bodied vocal with attack-heavy distorted synths and fragmented drum marches accomplish a sound less cold war, and more “Air War”.
The launch for “MRI” is on 28 May at Rockwood Music Hall (Stage 2), New York.
