Listen: Sway Clarke II - Secret Garden (Strange Talk Remix) [Premiere]
We've been keeping a keen eye on Sway Clarke II since he appeared back at the end of 2013. Along with an inspired remix/cover of Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools", the soul-packed vocal, thudding rhythms and shamelessly sensual themes of "I Don't Need Much" put him on the map drawing comparisons with the leading lights of RnB.
Since then the Toronto-hailing, Berlin-based songwriter and vocalist has been drip-feeding tracks out, including the smile inducing "Secret Garden"; packed with charm and more than a hint of cheeky wit, this second cut confirmed Clarke II's quality and became an instant ear worm, begging to be returned-to.
Now, the Island-signed hopeful has borrowed the sounds of Strange Talk to send his latest release into a whole new dimension: the Australian four-piece bring a driving, late night hue to proceedings as waves of synths cascade beneath Clarke II's typically smooth vocal. Quietly screaming electronic elements join the metronomic beats, with a subtle but seductive drop adding punch to the glistening new rework.
