It’s rare that we’re ever scared stiff nowadays. The current state of the world is so frightening in itself that it takes a lot in film and fiction for us to get the heeby-jeebies. Even the premise of infamous gross-out flick ‘The Human Centipede’ is ultimately something that could probably have spawned during Pub Talk any Friday night out on the town.
But this one, a new track from electronic pair Solar Bears, is quite sinister indeed. With it’s incessant and insistent sprawling arpeggio and clattering percussion, ‘Cosmic Runner’ sounds like an aural dystopia, perfectly suited to soundtrack the forthcoming – and utterly pointless, may we add – cinematic remake of 1984.
