Listen: Sasha Siem - "My Friend (Cloud Boat remix)" [Premiere]
English-Norwegian singer-songwriter Sasha Siem has had her recent single "My Friend", available through Blue Plum Records, reworked by Cloud Boat.
The original version, produced by Valgeir Sigurðsson (Sigur Ros, Bjork) and recorded at Reykjavik’s Greenhouse Studios, is taken from Siem's untitled-but-forthcoming debut LP, due out at some point early 2015.
Cloud Boat's remix boils the dramatic pop vibes down to their basest form, transforming the number into an ambient haze. It's got an enormous, rickety intro and instead of the swollen instrumentation of the original, Cloud Boat opt for a pulse of the metronomic kind, and a sense of freedom. The backdrop now boasts a FKA Twigs-esque lacquer, and sees Siem's clarion vox pierce through with greater depth.
Both acts will be interviewing each other, in public, via Twitter tomorrow (5 December) at 12:30pm GMT.
