Listen: Ryan Francesconi & Mirabai Peart – Road To Palios

Bella Union have announced the release of yet another piece of folk brilliance. ‘Road To Palios’ is an 8 minute journey through the pickings and bowings of partners Ryan Francesconi & Mirabai Peart respectively.

Listening to the track you certainly are taken along a road, escorted through the Balkan lands that so influence Francesconi’s writing. Seamlessly embracing elements of Baroque, Americana and Jazz, the duo showcase exceptional musicianship and an effortless unity.

Having performed as a seasoned soloist, under various guises, Francesconi’s guitar work is mind-boggling at times and Peart’s fiddle produces a wonderfully eerie accompaniment. It’s a piece of the highest quality, not that we would expect anything less from Bella Union – responsible for the likes of John Grant, Andrew Bird and Laura Veirs, the latter of which can surely be pictured enjoying this exceptional work.
