Having already wooed us with their bleary-eyed debut EP, Missionary, earlier in 2013, LA synth-pop outfit Rare Times are back, and they’re hauling the chintz and chutzpah of 80s lounge music along for the ride too.
‘Cloudy’ is the second track drawn from their next extended player, Mist, due for release on 20 August, and like preceding cut, ‘Watched Over’, it oozes class with super-sleek synth lines flirting with Anthony Calonico’s sharply poised vocals and trickling handclaps. As The Fader correctly point out, ‘Cloudy’ is pure Refn, sans the ultra-violence, of course.
