Listen: Ráj – “Let Me Love You” [Premiere]
An exciting new addition to the Bella Union roster arrives today in the form of 20 year old Los Angeles based artist Ráj and his brooding debut single “Let Me Love You”.
Harbouring a deeply soulful vocal over sparse, loosely strummed guitar chords – the song opens with Ráj solemnly marking the end of a relationship “my heart beats quickly ‘cos you’re not with me no more – you fucked up so bad” – the line delivered with a pained guttural sadness. As the track builds subtly over a bed of atmospheric percussion and ghostly backing vocals, it’s Ráj’s plea of “let me love you, ’till it hurts” that really attacks the jugular.
Available from today on iTunes, “Let Me Love You” is coupled with the b-side “Ghost” – the track that initially sparked interest in Ráj last autumn. He’s currently working on a debut EP and will make his debut UK live appearance on February 17 opening for The Neighbourhood at London’s XOYO, tickets for which are available here.
