Listen: Radio On - "You're Always Right" [Premiere]
London four-piece Radio On are sharing debut single "You're Always Right" now, exclusively on Best Fit.
This new cut follows the Killing Moon-released "Don't Wait", which featured in a compilation part-curated by Ally McCrae. The track features bouncy guitar-based indie-pop - think Dutch Uncles, Flyte or Theme Park - with swaying synth lines and pounding drum beats, and a strident sense of ambition. It seems to evoke a sense of escapism, alluding to their intrinsic link to road movies (see below), where you can jettison all the worldly woes and strike forth on your own terms. Uplifting doesn't begin to cover it.
The band lifted their nom de guerre from a "Christopher Petit '70s road movie of the same name", which was roughly about a radio DJ dealing with the suicide of his brother. Lead singer Sam Hayward, inspired by the twisting of a very USA-centric genre for British audiences, said that "these European film-makers took this American genre, and they played with it, to put their own spin on it - creating a new sub-genre with real emotional depth and artistic merit."
The single will arrive 4 May via Making Visible. The band will play a launch show on 6 May at London's The Islington.
