What is paradise? What do you envision when you think of this idyllic world? Do you foresee a utopia where all men are equal and can live their lives in peace without worries of anybody rummaging through their trash or intersecting their phone calls? London group Paradise see this idealised state as all waterfalls and sunsets and dolphins swimming along with Ariel and Flounder under the sea.
Their music is not exactly as tranquil as this, but equally alluring. ‘Luella’ is dream-pop with a macho twist: the dominating low-range vocals sound somewhere near to The Big Pink, while the impromptu rap during the bridge at the end are like a head-nod to Why?. The result is something a bit darker than their unofficial artwork may suggest.
