If there was ever such a thing as a “perfect Sunday afternoon record”, ‘Off and On’, the new single by Padraig Whelan would be a close call. Warm and inviting, Whelan’s smooth Yorkshire croon echoes around the track like a lonely skeleton whilst the “last dance at a wedding” vibes of the rhythm section delicately waltz along. Gloriously romantic without ever reaching schmaltzy heights, this is another rare gem from the supremely talented singer-songwriter.
