Listen: Natural Self – Machine [Best Fit Premiere]
Ongoing musical project Natural Self is the brainchild of Nathaniel Pearn. The Brighton based producer has come a long way since he started creating songs by cutting and pasting samples from old school funk and hip-hop joints on his computer over a decade ago.
Over the years, the constant crate digging has paved the path to an electronic based sound, the fruits of which can be heard here in new single ‘Machine’. The whirring synth opening builds into a multi-faceted and futuristic journey. Layers are built and progress organically as if the story is told through the beat as well as much as it is through Pearn’s vocals.
‘Machine’ is out on 18 February through Tru Thoughts and will be backed by with a cover of a song by Electrelane called ‘The Valleys’. Listen below.
