At that very core of Los Campesinos! lie their lyrics of sardonic wit, lines of post-teenage angst, longing and occasional tongue-in-cheek melancholia. So it’s a strange thought the band covering another, singer Gareth reciting someone else’s lines. But picking out a song very dear to the group by one of the band’s 90s heroes The Beautiful South (Gareth is set to tour with frontman Paul Heaton shortly), it seems like a perfect fit. Hell, even the title sounds like a cut from Romance is Boring or Hello Sadness.
Originally coming free with Issue #2 of the band’s fanzine Heat Rash, you can stream the track below or download it via Pitchfork.
