Listen: Lila Rose - "World On Fire" [Premiere]
Toronto-born, California-based Lila Rose is premiering her new single "World On Fire" on Best Fit.
The track is taken from upcoming long-player WE.ANIMALS., the follow up to 2012's Heart Machine.
Rose speaks of lofty, grand aims for the new album: "I want people to see the interconnectedness of all life... I want the music to allow people to feel the expansiveness of their emotions, and to feel passionate and angry and inspired to make change in our lives for the greater scope of things.”
Produced by bandmate Daniel Garcia, Rose plumped for live compositions as opposed to computer music this time, citing the "dark, organic, weird, heavy sound like Nine Inch Nails, Tool, and Radiohead" as an inspiration. This taster, "World On Fire", certainly lends itself well to that description.
Grumbling synths, the hulking death-waltz of percussion and electro-gothic strings all align to create something beautifully harrowing. It's majestic too, encapsulating the glory of shadows like Bjork or Lykke Li, but also embracing bold pop vibes - the prechorus sounds uncannily similar to the chorus of Nicola Roberts' "Gladiator".
