Sunderland collective Let’s Away released their debut AA side single, ‘Suitably Loose’ / ‘You & I’ last month. Aided and abetted in the recording process by members of Frankie & the Heartstrings and Hyde & Beast, the two slowmo slabs of indie cinematica more than do justice to the Elbows, Interpols and drunken young love which inspired them.
Now relocated to London, lead vocalist Neil Wood has clubbed together with producer James Mottershead (British Sea Power, Dog Is Dead, S.C.U.M) to birth a fragile yet remarkably empowering demo called ‘Blue’. Backed by one and a half minutes of timidly flickering percussion and reedy guitars, Wood’s simple, heartfelt murmurs provide comfort for bruised souls and restless bodies. Just don’t expect that knot in your throat to leave quite so quickly.
